Nuits St Georges Les Vaucrains Robert Chevillon 1993

Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges Les Vaucrains 1993 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Vaucrains in the Nuits-St-Georges commune of the Côte de Nuits. Domaine Robert Chevillon is a family-owned property currently managed by the two brothers Bertrand and Denis Chevillon. The domaine boasts enviable holdings of old Pinot Noir vines in three Premier Cru vineyards, Les Cailles, Les Saint-Georges and Les Vaucrains, where this mature expression comes from. "As is so often the case, while the ’93 Cailles is open for inspection, the ’93 Vaucrains is still quite reticent on the palate. However, the nose is still quite stunning, offering up notes of sandalwood, red berries, cherries, woodsmoke, sous bois, minerals, gamebirds and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and powerful, with great depth at the core, superb focus, and great length and grip on the modestly tannic and tangy finish. Today the Cailles is significantly more flamboyant than the Vaucrains, but ultimately, this wine should pass the former by a whisker when both have reached their apogees.
