G.H. Mumm was founded in 1827 by three brothers. Jacobus, Gottlieb, and Philipp Mumm. The company`s name "G.H. Mumm" is derived from the family name and the patriarch`s initials "G.H". The Mumm family originated from Germany and established their house in Reims, in the heart of the Champagne region. G.H. Mumm is particularly known for its flagship cuvée, "Cordon Rouge". This cuvée is recognizable by its distinctive red ribbon, known as the "sash of the Legion of Honour," which was awarded to the house by France`s highest civilian decoration. This is a very mature bottle of the 1971 vintage, a special treat for those who appreciate aged champagnes.
