Xavier oversees the family estate, which was originally known as Domaine René Monnier, named after his grandfather. Following her husband`s untimely passing, Xavier`s mother, who married a Monnot from Maranges, managed the estate until Xavier`s return to Meursault in 1994. This particular release hails from their 1.20-hectare plot in the Premier Cru `Les Charmes`. Xavier`s approach leans toward harvesting at an ideal moment, avoiding early picking, while still achieving an admirable level of tension that prevents the wines from becoming overly rich.
