Xavier is the current custodian of the estate that once bore his grandfather`s name, Domaine René Monnier. After her husband`s untimely passing, Xavier`s mother, who had married into the Monnot family from Maranges, managed the estate. Xavier returned to Meursault in 1994 to take the reins. This particular offering comes from their 1.20-hectare plot in the Premier Cru `Les Charmes`. Xavier`s approach leans towards allowing the grapes to reach maturity without harvesting too early, striking a balance that prevents the wines from becoming overly lush while maintaining a certain tension.
