Mas de Daumas Gassac 2016 is a medium-bodied blended red wine from the Languedoc region of south-west France. Mas de Daumas Gassac is a prestigious wine producer located in the Languedoc. The estate is often referred to as the ‘Grand Cru of the Languedoc’ due to its commitment to producing high-quality wines. The 2016 is an assemblage of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec, 3% Pinot Noir and 6% other rare varieties. 2016 is characterised by tremendous freshness, with ripe fruit (blackcurrants) and spicy notes, and a very long, elegant palate.
The 2016 Rouge is a stunner. Swirling the glass unlocks magnificent garrigue, crushed violets, cassis pastilles, licorice and verbena tea elements. Built around a core of polished tannins and kept in check by refreshing acidity, the quintessential 2016 superbly marries power and finesse. Closing with a persistent finish, it comes with secure aging potential and deserves a round of applause.
