Having worked at some of the greatest Napa wineries and subsequently forged a reputation as one of the regions most formidable winemakers, Helen Turley founded her own tiny boutique winery, Marcassin, in 1991. The first wine ever produced was the Upper Barn Alexander Mountain Chardonnay and this 1997 is one of the greatest ever vintages released. It is compelling complex with superbly multi-layered notes of citrus peel, dried apricot, wild honey, toast and beeswax. This is full-bodied, mineral and textural Chardonnay of the very highest level.
