This is Cristal Rosé at its best, brimming with luscious strawberry and red cherry notes. It features a refined mousse, a rich salmon hue, and an enticing aroma profile. The acidity and balance are impeccable. In contrast to the typically delicate and refined Cristal style, especially in the Rosé variation, this expression is notably more concentrated. The 1996 Cristal Rosé (Late Disgorged) is just as impressive as it has always been, especially in more recent tastings. A wine that opens up in all directions, the 1996 has no beginning and no end; it is simply magical. The earliest tertiary nuances are just beginning to appear, but the 1996 remains youthful, tense and brilliant. Orange peel, cinnamon, rosewater and cranberries add nuance on the crystalline, salivating finish. In a recent tasting of the reference-point 1996 Champagnes, both Cristal and Cristal Rosé were at the top of the pack. This is another brilliant showing from the Cristal Rosé. This bottle was disgorged about three years after the commercial release as part of Roederer`s soon to be launched Late Disgorged program. - Antonio Galloni

Cristal

Produced by the celebrated Champagne house, Louis Roederer, and with a history spanning over two centuries, Cristal is the pinnacle of the House’s production and is only made in the finest vintages. First commissioned by Tsar Alexander II to create a special personal cuvée, Cristal was reintroduced by the House in 1924 as the first prestige cuvée Champagne.

Only produced during the best years, Cristal is a blend of around 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir, aged for six years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a further eight months after dégorgement. A wonderfully vibrant and forward Champagne in youth, mature examples offer a complex, layered experience similar to that of a fine white Burgundy.
