Château Léoville Poyferré 2006 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon-based Bordeaux red wine produced by the Second Growth St-Julien property of Léoville Poyferré. The property has been owned by the Cuvelier family since 1920 and is today managed by Sara Lecompte Cuvelier, who took over from her uncle, Didier Cuvelier, in 2017. Through modernisation of the wine cellar and a major programme of vineyard replanting and expansion, Didier significantly raised the reputation of Léoville-Poyferré, which now enjoys the status of one of the finest – and best-value – properties in St-Julien. "The 2006 Château Léoville Poyferré has one of the most harmonious and complete bouquets from Saint Julien. very well-defined blackberry, briary and chalky scents, real focus and delivery here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, ripe tannin matched with well-judged acidity. Like the 2006 Léoville-Barton, it is stubborn and backward, but there is clearly harmony and focus on the finish, the new oak deftly assimilated in the fabric of the wine. This is a lovely wine from Didier Cuvelier." Wine Advocate, 2016
