Tenuta dell`Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove 2021 is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend from the Bolgheri hills of Tuscany. This is the second wine of the iconic Ornellaia estate. A Supertuscan blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with small proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this opulent red is matured for about 15 months in 25% new barriques, then a further six months in bottle before release. "The 2021 Le Serre Nuove dell`Ornellaia packs a huge punch. Masses of dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, leather, licoricey and cloves saturate the palate. I don`t remember a Serre Nuove with this much sheer power and sombre intensity, but the balance is there, especially with aeration. It will be interesting to see how the 2021 develops.
