Here is the second label from the renowned Chateau Léoville Las Cases, which began with the 2007 vintage and is made with a significant proportion of Merlot in the blend (71% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon). In the words of critic Jane Anson, the 2009 vintage is "rich black cherry in colour, with spicy aromatics coming to the fore on the nose. The tannins are pretty bouncy, with clear freshness running through - even in this most generous of vintages you still get the slight reserve of the Léoville soils."
