1966 was not a vintage universally successful across Bordeaux but, of all the sub-regions, Pauillac has perhaps performed the most consistently over the years. Neal Martin of The Wine Advocate described the Lafite Rothschild in 2008 as “absolutely sublime” with a “beguiling sense of natural harmony and delineation” and awarded it 96 points.
