The Chave family has been producing wines in the Rhône Valley for several generations and is renowned for their commitment to quality. Their Hermitage Blanc is primarily made from Marsanne, with a smaller proportion of Roussanne. Marsanne brings structure, richness, and ageing potential to the blend, while Roussanne adds aromatic complexity and finesse. The 2002 vintage remains remarkably vibrant, driven by fruit and imbued with a powerful energy. Its texture is rich and creamy, supported by a persistent underlying acidity.
- Subdued but pure aromas of ginger, white flowers and menthol. Very tightly wound and citric; almost hard-edged for a young Chave white wine. All edges now and difficult to taste, especially following the 2003. Quite strict and uncompromisingly dry (actually under one gram of residual sugar), but very long and subtle. Chave says this is much richer than it's showing today.
