Berry Brothers Glenlossie Single Cask 2010 is a limited-edition, vintage-dated Speyside single malt from the Glenlossie Distillery, bottled for Berry Bros. This 2010 release was matured in a single first-fill ex-Bourbon cask and bottled at a cask strength of 52.2%. BBR note. "This Glenlossie – matured in a first fill ex-Bourbon cask – sings from the glass, announcing itself with rich flavours of spiced crème brûlée, fresh apples, lime zest, vanilla pods and clove. It is a huge, muscular whisky. This theme continues on the palate, demanding your attention with waves of fresh shortbread, wood spice, fresh fruit and a touch of new leather. This style of wood-forward whisky works wonderfully at cask strength as the alcohol integrates beautifully with the rich character. Cinnamon and cloves linger on the finish, leaving one thoroughly impressed and ready for that second sip."

Glenlossie

Located in the Speyside town of Elgin near the Moray Firth, Glenlossie was founded by entrepreneur John Duff (also the founder of what would go on to become Benriach distillery) in 1876. This large-scale distillery is now yoked to the neighbouring Mannochmore distillery, with which it shares the water source of Bardon Burn.

Glenlossie was named as one of just 12 'top class' malts by blenders in 1974 and historically has been seen as something of a workhorse, contributing a large share of its output to leading Scotch blends.

Thanks to the use of purifiers in Glenlossie’s stills, the distillery’s new make is of a markedly delicate character, with a subtle grassiness also indicative of its Speyside location. Less than 1% of its output is bottled as single malt, the only official bottling available since the 1990s being the 10-year-old Flora & Fauna. In addition, a small number of independent bottlings are in circulation and worth seeking out.
