Glen Garioch

Founded around 1785, Glen Garioch (pronounced Glen Garioch) is situated in the far north east of the Scottish Highlands, near the city of Aberdeen. The business changed hands many times during the 1800s and 1900s before closing in 1968. In 1970, Glen Garioch was purchased by Stanley P Morrison who renovated and modernised it before restarting production in 1973. The ensuing years saw Glen Garioch produce some fantastic single malts - the malt master during that period had trained on Islay and was keen to introduce a peaty character to the whisky.

Nowadays, Glen Garioch is owned by the Suntory Group and pursue a robust, traditional Highland style. The core range includes a 12 year old and a non-age-statement Founder's Reserve while limited editions often focus on cask finishes. Indie bottlings abound with fantastic old single malts bottled by the likes of Signatory, Gordon and MacPhail and The Last Drop.
