Situated in the village of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine de la Romanée Conti is undoubtedly the most prestigious wine estate in Burgundy, achieving an almost-mythical status. DRC – as it is frequently called – is co-owned by the de Villaine and Leroy families and produces only grand cru wines. The vines are farmed biodynamically, yields are kept low by methodical pruning and harvesting is typically very late. Their Échezeaux cuvée comes from a 4.67-hectare vineyard holding, where the vines’ average age is 34 years old. This particular release is from the 2001 vintage and available here in a magnum. Expect a smooth and silky wine, with layers of coffee beans, cinnamon, sweet redcurrants and floral undertones.
