The 35 hectares of vineyards at Château de Lamarque are planted to 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and the remainder to Petit Verdot. Each grape variety is vinified and fermented separately in large concrete vats, with only the best vats making it into the final blend. Liquorice, thyme, earth, black cherries and espresso aromas are all present in the 2009 vintage. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, open and ready for drinking. This is a great example of a well-priced, easy-drinking Bordeaux.
