Croft Quinta da Roeda Serikos Half 2017

2017 marks the first release of Serikos, a Vintage Port produced from the old, historic vineyards of Croft’s flagship property, Quinta da Roeda. Its name is a historical reference to the property’s involvement in the silk trade follow the decimation of its vineyards by Phylloxera and, indeed, to the silken quality of the wines. From a sensational vintage, this is rich, ripe and incredibly complex, with notes of succulent black fruits, savoury herbs and dried rose petals. Perhaps more nuanced, concentrated and structured than the 2017 Vintage Croft, this wine showcases the remarkable qualities and distinctive character of the old vine fruit from which it is made and will easily age for 50+ years.
