Another fantastic single malt from John Crabbie & Co. This 50 year old has been sourced from an unamed Islay distillery and was aged in a single ex-Sherry cask before being bottled without colouring or chill-filtration.
Despite being an Islay malt, peat levels are low here. This is a gently spiced, warming dram with notes of dates, figs and toffee on the nose. The palate adds toated nuts, red fruits and baking space before a long, evolving finish. A magnificent whisky that offers all the complexity you would expect from 50 years of gentle ageing.
