Cos Pithos Rosso 2022 is an intriguing red wine from Sicily, crafted with a blend of indigenous grape varieties, primarily Nero d`Avola, and utilizing biodynamic practices. This wine undergoes fermentation in amphorae, which contributes to its unique character. The wine showcases bright acidity, with earthy notes complemented by flavors of dark cherries and a hint of spice. The tannins present are well-structured, providing a solid backbone to the wine.

On the palate, Pithos Rosso reveals layers of complexity, reflecting the volcanic soils of the region. The finish is moderately long, with a subtle minerality that underscores its origins. The wine is unfiltered and produced with minimal intervention, aligning with Cos`s commitment to sustainability. Enjoyable now, it also has the potential for further development with some aging in the bottle.

Darkly floral, the 2022 Rosso Pithos slowly evolves in the glass, blending roses and violets with crushed stone and hints of rhubarb. This creates a sensation of sweet-and-sour on the palate, with soft textures and juicy acidity guiding its tart red berry fruits and sour citrus tones. The 2022 tapers off long and staining yet only gently tannic, closing with notes of licorice and a lingering tart blackberry concentration. The Pithos is a zesty blend of 60% Nero d'Avola and 40% Frappato that’s refined for seven months in amphorae, followed by two to three months in concrete.
