Château de Beaucastel is one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 1989 saw the debut release of the flagship wine, Hommage a Jacques Perrin, which is only made in the best years and has production of around 350 cases on average. 2016 was a truly exceptional vintage and this is a sublime follow-up to the immense 2015. As is the norm, this is a blend with a high proportion of Mourvedre and this gives a profoundly complex savoury streak to otherwise abundant waves of wonderfully seductive red and black fruits. With a weave of perfectly ripe tannins and a pep of bright acidity, this is absurdly delicious to drink already but, undeniably, the best lies in wait.
