Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the iconic red wines of the Southern Rhône Tracing its history back to 1549, when Pierre de Beaucastel purchased his first plot of Coudoulet vines, the estate has been operated since 1909 by successive generations of the Perrin family. Beaucastel continues to reside among the elite producers of the region, each successive vintage crafting terroir red wines which harness the complementary characteristics of the appellation`s 13 traditional grape varieties. On the whole, the 1976 was a good vintage in the Southern Rhône, producing ripe, structured Châteauneuf-du-Pape red wines. Those from the best estates which have been carefully cellared remain very good to drink.
