Chateau Musar Blanc (Damaged Label) 1990

HED28140 75cl
Chateau Musar White 1990 is a full-bodied white wine from the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. Established by Gaston Hochar in 1930. Chateau Musar is without a doubt Lebanon’s top wine estate. Seven years in the making, Chateau Musar White is a blend of ancient grape varieties Obaideh and Merwah. These grape varieties are indigenous to the mountains of Lebanon and are said to be related to Chasselas, Chardonnay and Semillon.

The Merwah is barrel fermented while the Obaideh is tank fermented and matured in French oak barriques for 6-8 months. It is then blended and bottled in the July or August after harvest, stored in bottle at the winery and released six to seven years after the harvest. The style is often described as resembling a “dry sauternes” or mature white Graves. Tasting Notes from the Chateau-

“Even when first released, the white 1990 was a very complex rich wine in the style of the great white Burgundies. A deep yellow-gold colour and a complex and intense nose of honey, toast, apple, oak. The palate faithfully reflected the aromas. A very balanced wine of great richness and an exceptionally long finish”
