Perrot-Minot Charmes-Chambertin 2010 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Charmes-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits. Winemaker Christophe Perrot-Minot limits yields to around 20 to 25hl/ha for his Grands Crus. In the cellar, the wines are not punched down; rather Christophe uses gentle pumpovers to ensure only the most delicate extraction. After fermentation, the wines are matured in oak (never more than 40% new for the Grands Crus) for up to 18 months. On the 2010 Charmes-Chambertin. "Good dark red colour. Utterly captivating scents of dark raspberry, coffee, mocha, game, musky underbrush and rose petal. Sweet-verging-on-decadent, offering outstanding volume and gras but also superb inner-mouth tension and digestibility. Opulent flavours of berries and dried flowers saturate the palate with sweetness, but surprising energy keeps the wine from coming across as heavy. My sample ultimately went into a shell in the glass, suggesting that it will need time in bottle to harmonize." Vinous, 2013
