Based in Chambolle-Musigny, Hudelot-Baillet is a bit of a hidden gem that has gained a strong reputation over the past few years. Founded in 1981 by Joël Hudelot, the Domaine is currently led by his son-in-law, Dominique Leguen, who had been working at the estate since 1998. This release comes from the Premier Cru Les Borniques, where Hudelot-Baillet owns a 0.10-hectare plot. Although the 2021 quantities may be significantly reduced, it is crucial not to underestimate the vintage`s quality.
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Borniques 1er Cru, one and a half barrels, has quite a feisty bouquet with just a touch more VA here than others. The palate is well balanced with a pastille-like entry, fine structure but just missing a little complexity and finesse on the finish. - Neil Martin
