Chablis Montmains Samuel Billaud 2023 is crafted from 35-year-old vines rooted in the deep clay soils of this prominent Premier Cru, located to the southwest of Chablis village. The wine displays a characteristic minerality typical of the region, complemented by a layer of citrus and green apple. Known for its precision, this vintage reflects the traditional methods of Samuel Billaud, who has a history in Chablis winemaking dating back to the 17th century.
The 2023 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru comes from the middle of the valley, 35-year-old vines. It has a slightly chalky bouquet, touches of yellow flowers and fresh pear. The palate is fresh on the entry, and very linear in style (especially compared to the previous vintage), leading to a lemongrass-tinged finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. Definitely this is worth seeking out.
