Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2012 is a full-bodied red wine from the Rioja region of Spain. Founded in 1852, Marqués de Murrieta is one of the oldest, most respected and most traditional wineries in Rioja. Produced only in the finest vintages, the iconic Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial is their flagship wine and is made with fruit sourced from the La Plana vineyard which was planted in 1950. The 2012 is a blend of 81% Tempranillo and 19% Mazuelo and spent 34 months maturing in American and French oak barrels before bottling. "So much dried flower, mushroom, iron, rust, sweet berry, and grilled orange. Full-bodied with very elegant and refined tannins that melt in the mouth and give a real sense of place and integrity. Balanced and harmonious. The finesse and finish is endless. Production was 30% less than in 2011. Already so drinkable. A wonderful future.
