Castello di Fonterutoli Siepi Rosso di Toscana is an acclaimed red wine produced by the historic Mazzei family at their Castello di Fonterutoli estate in Tuscany. The wine is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, creating a unique expression of the Tuscan terroir. The Siepi vineyard, from which the grapes are sourced, is one of the estate`s most prestigious sites, known for its exceptional microclimate and soil composition. The winemaking process involves meticulous grape selection, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for a period of approximately 18 months, which helps to develop its structure and complexity.
The 2020 Siepi is classy, elegant and super-polished. Inky blue fruit, lavender, new leather, cloves and mocha all meld together effortlessly. There is a sense of precision in the 2020 that is incredibly inviting. Even so, the 2020 is very young and not fully expressing its potential.
