Gianni Brunelli Brunello di Montalcino 2006 is a mature, full-bodied red wine produced from Sangiovese grapes in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation of Tuscany, central Italy. The classically styled Gianni Brunello Brunellos are made by Laura Brunelli at Le Chiuse di Sotto estate in the heart of the appellation.
The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva comes across as a bit laid back relative to the 2001 and 2004 in this flight, but that is to be expected. Silky and perfumed at first, the 2006 has plenty of depth and overall structure, but those qualities are expressed in an understated manner. Time brings out the wine’s depth and persistence nicely. - Antonio Galloni - Bright medium red. Aromas of currant, candied blueberry, plum, menthol and earth. Sweet and nicely vinous, with a rather medicinal, menthol aspect suggesting moderate ripeness. Juicy and supple but will this ever expand and express itself? Finishes a bit dry, with limited length.
