Domaine Hudelot-Baillet Bourgogne Hautes Cotes-de-Nuits Rouge 2022 is a medium-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Hautes Cotes-de-Nuits appellation. Hudelot-Baillet is a family-owned winery, currently led by Dominique Leguen, who is the son-in-law of Joël Hudelot-Baillet. Leguen joined the estate after his service in the air force in 1998 and has been responsible for winemaking since 2002. While their vineyards are primarily located in the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, they produce a diverse range of wines, ranging from the prestigious Grand Cru Bonnes-Mares to this excellent-value Hautes Cotes-de-Nuits.
The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, picked around ten days later than other cuvées, had been bottled just before my visit. Well-defined on the nose, the fruit is slightly darker than the Bourgogne Rouge. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry and fine tannins. It’s juicy with a touch of spice toward the finish. - Neil Martin
