Bollinger La Grande Année 2005 is a prestige vintage cuvée crafted from a blend of 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay. The grapes originate from a selection of 19 different crus, showcasing the producer`s emphasis on quality terroir. This magnum offers a structured palate with hints of stone fruit and subtle spice. While it currently displays balance, it is recommended for further ageing to reveal its full potential.
The 2005 Brut La Grande Année hasn't changed much since I last tasted it about six months ago. If anything, the 2005 is a bit less interesting than it was when I first tasted it. Soft, forward and heading towards maturity, the 2005 is a Champagne to drink now and over the next few years. This is an especially hollow Grande Année lacking mid-palate depth and continuity.
