Marchesi di Barolo holds a pivotal role in Barolo winemaking. In the 19th century, Marchese Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo and his wife, Giulia, pioneered the creation of Barolo wine in its contemporary form, with their wines even gracing the tables of Italian royalty. This release comes from the 1971 vintage, widely acknowledged as the finest of that decade and arguably one of the best in the latter half of the 20th century, giving rise to numerous long-lived Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
