A Riesling from the New World, produced by the Argentinian winery Altaluvia, a part of the Santa Rita estates, known for brands such as Doña Paula and Santa Rita in Chile. The grapes are hand-picked during the daytime and are carefully de-stemmed. The 2020 vintage exhibits elegance, minerality, and distinctive hydrocarbon aromas typical of the variety.
The 2020 Riesling Altaluvia from Gualtallary, Uco Valley, was one-fifth fermented in used French barrels. Autumnal green in hue. The intense aromas include papaya, mango and woody hints such as vanilla and sweet spices. Malic in the mouth, it tickles the gums, while the core is saline with good fat and slickness, leading to a lengthy but compact finish. An intriguing style. - Joaquin Hidalgo
