Glendullen

The Seventh Still of Dufftown

There is a saying in the whisky-producing Speyside town of Dufftown: ‘Rome was built on seven hills and Dufftown stands on seven stills.’ Glendullan is the seventh and last distillery built in the town. Located on the banks of the River Fiddich, it began production in 1898, though the current distillery building was constructed as recently as 1972.

For some time the principal Glendullan single malt bottling was a Flora and Fauna 12-year-old, though 8-, 16- and 23-year-old official expressions have also appeared, in addition to a small number of older age-statement, cask-strength Rare Malts releases.

In 2008, however, Glendullan single malt became an element of the Singleton whisky brand, with 12-, 15- and 18-year-old expressions matured in European Sherry Oak casks and American Bourbon Oak casks. There have also been occasional independent bottlings of Glendullan malt from the likes of Cadenheads, Blackadder and Douglas Laing.
