Meursault Genevrières
Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France
Meursault Genevrières is a premier cru climat located at the southern end of the commune of Meursault among a cluster of other highly rated premiers crus. This east and southeast-facing vineyard is one of the warmer growing sites Meursault and is renowned for producing some of the finest Chardonnays of the Côte de Beaune. These ageworthy wines are distinctly rich, buttery and full-bodied with notes of hazelnuts and citrus, and a core of fine minerality.
As is common in the vineyards of Burgundy, Genevrières is split into to parcels: the higher slope, Genevrières-Dessus, and the lower, Genevrières-Dessous. The wines produced on the higher slope (for example, from Benjamin Leroux and Domaine des Comtes Lafon) are generally considered to be superior.
