Côte de Nuits-Villages

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Côte de Nuits-Villages is a village-level appellation principally for red wines (about 5% of the vineyards are planted with white grapes, mainly Chardonnay) in the Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. Recognised as a source of good value as prices for vineyard-specific Burgundy wines continues to escalate, Côte de Nuits-Villages sits just above Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and the basic AOC Bourgogne in the appellation hierarchy.

The 400ha of vineyards in the Côte de Nuits-Villages are located in and around the villages of Fixin, Brochon, Prémeaux, Comblanchien and Corgoloin, in the extreme north and the extreme south of the Côte de Nuits. While not the most prized vineyard sites in the sub-region, these vineyards do produce reliably high-quality Pinot Noirs for early drinking – typically within four or five years.
