Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

The commune of Chambolle-Musigny is prized above all else of its elegant, perfumed and long-lived Pinot Noirs. Excluding the commune’s Grands Crus, Le Musigny and Bonnes-Mares, the best examples of these are produced from its 25 Premier Cru vineyards.

While the most common expressions of Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru are those produced from individual vineyards (or climats), it is also possible to blend wines from multiple Premier Cru vineyards within the appellation. In this case the wine would be labelled simply as Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru.

The appellation in its current form was created in 1936. The most-prized Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru – often mentioned in the same breath as the commune’s two Grands Crus – is Les Amoureuses, with Les Charmes a close second.
