Chablis Beauroy
Chablis, Burgundy, France
Located on the left bank of the Serein river, at the mouth of the Valle des Vaux and close to the village of Poinchy, Chablis Beauroy is a Premier Cru vineyard dedicated to Chardonnay. The vines of Beauroy grow on a steep east and south-facing slope with classic Chablis Kimmeridgean soil and enjoy optimum exposure to the sun during the growing season (although spring frosts can sometimes be a problem). The wines of Chablis Beauroy are notable as a source of good value when compared with those of Chablis’ Grands Crus and the wines of the Côte d’or further south. Typically they are smooth in texture, with an excellent balance of fruit, acidity and chalky minerality, and typically with a touch of oak influence. They can be enjoyed young, although the best examples will age well for six to eight years.
