Beaune Les Grèves

Les Grèves is one of the largest Premier Cru vineyards in Beaune. The east-facing vineyard of is located in the central section of the Beaune amphitheatre, just to the west of Beaune itself, and spans most of the hill from top to bottom. It is considered one of the best Pinot Noir terroirs in the region and produces wines with a rare finesse.
Wines from this vineyard tend to have more body, power and ageing potential than other Beaune Pinots. The best of them possess a voluptuous and intensity which merit its being regarded as a ‘Grand Premier Cru’. It should be noted, however, that its large variability in terms of soil and gradient means that the wine derived from this vineyard do vary in style. A small amount of Chardonnay is also made in Les Grèves.
