Northern Rhone
Syrah is the only permitted grape variety for red wines in the Northern Rh么ne, producing wines with deep black fruit character, together with floral or black pepper notes, good levels of tannins and varying use of new/old oak depending on the producer. A small percentage of the white Viognier variety can be included with the Syrah, resulting in red wines with beautiful aromatic complexity. The white wines of the Northern Rh么ne are also a real treat, from full-bodied, aromatic, apricot and stone fruit Viogniers to wonderful perfumed blends of Marsanne and Roussanne.
The Northern Rh么ne is home to the celebrated appellations of C么te-R么tie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas and Saint-P茅ray, and our shelves boast the cr猫me de la cr猫me. Many of the top vineyards in the region are planted on south-facing steep slopes next to the River Rh么ne and it's on these vineyards that the grapes are grown that go into the region鈥檚 most premium wines.
