Le Marche

The central Italian region of Le Marche stretches from the Adriatic Sea to the Apennines and is bordered by the regions of Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Abruzzo. Mainly producing red blends from Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes, the region is also home to the white variety, Verdicchio, characterised by its refreshing high acidity and gentle aromatic, citrus and herbal character. There are also exciting finds to be had from the likes of Fattoria Mancini, offering a beautifully elegant and precise Pinot Noir. Look out for key producers including Guerrieri, Tenute San Sisto and Villa Bucci to name but a few.
