Trotanoy 600cl 2017

HED69925 600cl 14.5%
Purchased by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, Château Trotanoy has been considered one of the premier crus of Pomerol since the end of the eighteenth century. A naturally profound, complex, richly-concentrated wine with outstanding aging potential. The wine possesses a deep colour and a dense, powerful nose, repeated on the palate with the addition of creamy, dark chocolate notes, and a singular concentration of flavour owed to its very old vines. Sold in hedonistic large format.
The 2017 Trotanoy fulfills the promise it showed from barrel with an enticing, captivating mineral-driven bouquet, crushed rocks permeating the black fruit. Subtle aromas of black truffle and smoke emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, perfectly pitched acidity, fresh and vibrant. A very harmonious and sapid finish gets the saliva flowing. Quintessentially Trotanoy, expect up to 30 years drinking pleasure from one of Pomerol’s most consistent performers. - Neil Martin

Chateau Trotanoy

Chateau Trotanoy

One of Pomerol's leading estates, Trotanoy was purchased by the Mouiex family in the mid-1950s. Farming around eight hectares of vines around a kilometre away from Petrus, the Trotanoy plantings are 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc on clay and gravel soils. The grapes are hand-harvested before being pressed and fermented in concrete vats. Maturation takes place in oak barriques, around 75% of which are new, for 18 months before being bottled unfiltered.

The wine's bold, concentrated style is a favourite with critics and connoisseurs alike with The Wine Advocate's Robert Parker dubbing Trotanoy "one of my favourite estates".
