Eaton Waihopai Pinot Noir 2018

Eaton Waihopai Pinot Noir 2018 is a medium-bodied single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. The fruit was sourced from the Tyntsfield vineyard in the Upper Waihopai valley. The wine was produced using a `layer cake` fermentation, with 45% whole bunches incorporated in layers with destemmed fruit, providing elements of carbonic maceration as well as conventional fermentation. This gave added complexity and freshness to the final wine. Extended post-ferment maceration added more complexity and introduced a more savoury character to the Pinot. Pale ruby in the glass, the Waihopai Pinot Noir is delicate and ethereal with notes of raspberry, redcurrant coulis, hay and blackberries. On the palate, juicy redcurrants and blood orange notes are complemented by hints of smoke and sousbois.
