Château Gigault Cuvée Viva 2000 is a full-bodied, Merlot-based red wine from the Côtes de Blaye appellation of Bordeaux. Lying across the Gironde river from Margaux, the Côtes de Blaye is an appellation with a fast-growing reputation for producing fine, well-priced claret. With renowned consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt overseeing winemaking, Gigault is a prime example of the Côtes de Blaye`s ascendancy. This 2000 vintage wine is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. "his deep ruby/purple-coloured wine shows sweet notes of creme de cassis intermixed with lead pencil, chocolate, and espresso. It is a big, thick, chunky wine with plenty of flesh, lots of fruit and glycerin, and a surprisingly substantial mouthfeel... A sleeper of the vintage." Wine Advocate, 2003
