Tullibardine
A Revived Highland Malt
Tullibardine distillery is located within view of the Highland Spring water bottling plant south of Blackford in the Perthshire region of the Scotland. Named after the nearby Tullibardine Moor, it was launched as a producer of Highland single malt in 1949 – though alcohol production on its site is thought to stretch back to the 15th century.
Having passed through various owners (and having been silent from 1994 to 2003), in 2013 Tullibardine went through a complete revamp of its product range, with an emphasis on finishing rather than purely on maturation. Tullibardine Sovereign (aged in first-fill Bourbon casks), along with Sauternes, Sherry and Burgundy casks-finish malts became the core range. Tullibardine 20-year-old and 25-year-old single malts were also launched. In addition, the distillery introduced a ‘Custodian Collection’ the first release of which was was a 60-year-old distilled in 1952.
