The English Whisky Co.
A Pioneering English Distillery
St George’s Distillery – the home of the English Whisky Co – became England's first whisky distillery in more than 120 years when it was founded by the Nelstrop family in Thetford, Norfolk, in 2006. Its launch in effect signalled the rebirth of English whisky which we see today.
With all ingredients sourced in locally (Norfolk happens to be one of the premier barley-producing regions of the world), English Whisky Co whiskies are released as ‘chapters’. Chapter 5, a three-year-old, became the first official whisky release in December 2009. This has been followed many more ‘chapters’ – either small-batch or single-cask editions. The company releases whiskies in both unpeated and peated style, with maturation and finishing taking place in a variety of casks, including ex-Bourbon, Sherry, Madeira and rum casks.
