Chivas Regal
Scotland's First Luxury Blend
Founded in 1786, Chivas Regal is the oldest continually operating distillery in the Highlands and one of the most recognisable Scotch whisky brands in the world. The brand started life as a 25-year-old whisky, which was blended with a high ratio of malt in order to woo the burgeoning middle-class of America. In effect, Chivas Regal 25 Year Old became the world’s first luxury blended whisky.
Now selling well in excess of four million cases every year, Chivas produces around a dozen proprietary blended whiskies, from the flagship Chival Regal 12 up to 18- and 25-year-old age-statement bottlings.
Chivas blended whisky is produced at the Strathisla distillery in Moray, Speyside and the core malt whisky in all Chivas Regal blends is the Strathisla single malt. This is supported by malts from a variety of other distilleries, including The Glenlivet, Longmorn, Allt-a-Bhainne, Miltonduff and Braeval, along with grain whiskies from Strathclyde in the Lowlands.
