Ladoix
Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France
The Burgundy appellation of Ladoix covers both red and white wines produced from the commune of Ladoix-Serrigny at the northern end of the Côte de Beaune. More than three-quarters of the production of Ladoix is devoted to red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes (no doubt a consequence of the appellation’s proximity to, and reflected glory from, Le Corton – Côte de Beaune’s only red wine Grand Cru). White wines are produced from Chardonnay, with smaller roles given to Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
Located just north of Beaune and directly below the eastern slopes of Corton, the village of Ladoix itself is small – with just 90ha of vineyards in the appellation. But this area can be a source of excellent value for Burgundy lovers willing to look beyond the most prestigious appellations. Ladoix producers of note include Philippe Pacalet, Domaine Méo-Camuzet and Domaine Faiveley.
