Fleurie

The appropriately Fleurie is one of the most highly regarded of Beaujolais 10 crus and is renowned for producing silky, floral and ethereal Gamay red wines. The best examples have surprising structure and can age well for 10 years or more. Fleurie is located between Moulin-à-Vent and Chénas, to the north, and Chiroubles and Morgon, to the south.
The 830ha of Fleurie vineyards are planted on the western side of the Beaujolais hills overlooking the Saone River valley. The appellation of most often associated with its pink granite soils, which confer a fine minerality and floral quality to the Gamay produced here, however there is considerable variation in soil composition, with much more sand on the higher slopes, for example.
