Fixin

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Located to the immediate north of Gevrey-Chambertin on the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, Fixin is a village appellation for (mainly) Pinot Noir red wines. For anyone looking for value from Burgundy, Fixin is an appellation to bookmark. As the more celebrated Pinot Noir-producing villages of Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-St-Georges become ever more sought-after and expensive, Fixin, with its distinctive terroir and wealth of high-quality producers (Leroy, Méo-Camuzet…), has naturally begun to attract more attention.

Covering about 100ha of vineyards, Fixin may not offer the same degree of complexity or longevity as neighbouring Gevrey, but it can produce Pinot Noirs with an abundance of charm and, in the best examples, considerable ageing potential.
