Solaia Marchesi Antinori Magnum 2012

Solaia, distinct from its Sangiovese-based sibling Tignanello, is crafted primarily from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape on the same estate. The initial two releases in 1978 and 1979 were exclusively blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The incorporation of Sangiovese occurred in subsequent vintages as Marchesi Antinori refined the wine. The 2012 vintage presents a deep ruby red hue and aromas of cooked black fruit, mint, vanilla, damp soil, and a touch of minerality. The wine is dry, boasting tremendous concentration and robust, grippy tannins.
